We used this series at our Christian homeschool co-op. I didn't use all the series in my class but everyone I used I was impressed. Hard to find science books that do not make theories sound like proven fact. Would recommend this series.

Colorado Geology - nja - Mountains
It is great fun to be traveling along the highway and read about the various rock strata. Tidbits of information such as the fact that a nuclear bomb was exploded at the bottom of a well near Rulison to see if the fractured rock would release more natural gas, however the gas from the well was slightly radioactive and couldn't be used. The well is now sealed off and no drilling is allowed in the vicinity.
We are enjoying this book.

This book gets me through the California Supplemental Examination for my PG. It is easy to read and understand (if you are a geologist), without making the book less the substance.

I like how Harden pictures one geologic event. The examples of places names are a familiar one, thus (if you live long enough in California) you can relate to them.

It is definitely one to keep.

Collier can take pride in his rare excellence of production. He has obviously been at the right place at the right time, as the lighting in these photographs is exquisite. Even though it appears that the color may have been slightly enhanced... you still need the content for a great photograph. Viewing the formations from above puts everything you have read geolocically into perspective. Collier's photographs introduce you to visuals of the tumultuous geological history of the mountainous regions of approximately eleven states. The text is a great read as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves geology and photography.
